Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.

Manifesta 13 Marseille was one of the only international biennials to take place during the global pandemic COVID-19, the biennial ended earlier than planned due to the second national lockdown

Site specific Installation at Bastione S.M. dello Spasimo, Volpe Astuta and Giardino dei Giusti accompanied by a collaboration with 6 restaurants in Palermo to serve CLIMAVORE menus

In Palermo, circular dry-stone walls enclose single-tree gardens allowing the trees to blossom and bear fruit. The London based duo Cooking Sections, in collaboration with agronomists from the University of Palermo, developed three structures that monitored the water stress inside these stone structures. The data, which was screened online as part of this installation, reflected the growing instability of the seasons. Throughout the exhibition, a take-away meal using drought-resistant ingredients was offered.
