Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.

Manifesta 13 Marseille was one of the only international biennials to take place during the global pandemic COVID-19, the biennial ended earlier than planned due to the second national lockdown

Installation including one-hour film programme presented at Ex Alumix in Bolzano

The film programme, a part of the Enthusiasts: archive (http://entuzjasci.artmuseum.pl/en/), a project by London- based artists Neil Cummings (GB) and Marysia Lewandowska (GB/PL) was the result of extensive research into films made by amateur film clubs based in factories during the Socialist period in Poland. The project revealed a range of interests and experiences generally invisible amongst the flow of state funded or professional films. This critical Archive of amateur films found and restored by the artists was made available online and accessioned into the Collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw in 2019.
