The Spanish collective Brumaria argued that it is not possible to isolate art from the world in which it is produced and in which it is perceived. Their artistic research project for Manifesta 8 focused on the representation of violence, a triangulation between its strategic use by those in power, its management by the mass media, and the less obvious role played by art in this context.
