Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.

Korakrit Arunanondchai’s work delves into the ability of storytelling to mutate and corrupt existing narratives around identity and belief systems. Through his diverse artistic practice encompassing video installations, paintings, sculptures and performances, he constructs a rich tapestry of interconnected compositions formed out of experiences of loss and political turmoil but also spiritual togetherness.
Operating primarily from Bangkok and New York, Arunanondchai collaborates with a range of artists. He employs an essayistic and experimental approach to gather audio and visual materials from various sources. His narratives, enriched with philosophical and mythical references, provoke contemplation on themes of consciousness, belief systems and community.
