Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.
Manifesta 15 Barcelona took place in Barcelona and 11 surrounding cities ot its metropolitan region.

Tornen les esquelles is a textile art collective, established in 2022 with the mission to encourage pro-environmental behaviours within the Collserola Natural Park. Using wool sourced from the Collserola region, the collective engages in the creation of felt pieces through participatory and performative processes. Their work extends beyond crafting tapestries and sculptures, evolving into a collaborative practice involving artists, shepherds and the local community. This collaborative effort encompasses activities ranging from shearing and wool selection to artistic proposals aimed at preserving the local ecosystem and traditional forms of pastoralism. Tornen les Esquelles serves as a creative hub, weaving together art and environmental stewardship to foster a sustainable connection between the community and the Collserola region.
