Anca Benera and Arnold Estefan, based in Vienna and Bucharest, have been collaborating since 2011, seamlessly integrating art with everyday life. Their projects often focus on the relationship between history, environment, climate, ecology and resource politics. Their earlier works in installation, video and performance delved into the hidden mechanisms behind historical, social and geopolitical constructs. They investigated how military imagination shapes landscapes, climates and communities, intersecting with resource extraction economies. Recently, they have shifted towards creating acts of reciprocity, addressing the global ecological crisis and weaving stories of non-human protagonists. Their work fosters interconnectedness among humans, minerals, plants, and animals. Their art has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at the likes of Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, mumok, Migros Museum, Palais de Tokyo and the 13th Istanbul Biennial.
