Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.
Manifesta 15 Barcelona took place in Barcelona and 11 surrounding cities ot its metropolitan region.

Since 2020, the collaborative art-research project radio SLUMBER, led by Zoénie Liwen Deng, Elaine W. Ho, Clara Jo, Keman Qiu, Amy Suo Wu and Hui Ye, has transformed into a multi-headed practice encompassing sound, writing and discursive spaces centred on the female experience. The collective exploration navigates the intricate web of shared affinities and backgrounds, converging at the undeniable struggles embedded in diasporic histories. By recognising the complexity of connections, their work steers clear of straightforward categorisation.
The radio SLUMBER soundtrack serves as a diverse collection of incantations and songs— aural spells and mantras to protect the female body and spirit amidst the tumultuous currents of existence. Recent experiments delve into feminist labour practices, interpersonal rituals and the nuanced layers of text and texture, unveiling an evolving artistic journey that transcends conventional boundaries.
