Mixed media installation exhibited at Ex Alumix in Bolzano
Scribbled notes, sketches, photographs, and found objects come together in an improvised shrine created by Indian artist Sanjay Kak to narrate the loss of land by a rural community in eastern India. For their gentle hills sit upon reserves of bauxite, and are being readied for the production of commercial aluminium. This land, fertile and sustaining, must therefore go under.
