Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.
This installation by French artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster represented a space designed for living and watching films, formed by a curtain, a carpet, a television… This space served to question the relationship between fictitious and domestic space. The recreated domestic space became fictitious, while the films on display were largely autobiographical.
