Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.

Christine Hill, DE

Participatory installation at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

In this participatory work, the American artist Christine Hill traded books for works of art. The procedure was simple: the visitor filled out a form and sent it along with a book to the artist, then obtained a work of art in return. The forms filled in by the visitors could be seen in the library of Boijmans Van Beuningen.
