Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.
German artist Carsten Höller’s sculpture consisted of a structure on wheels formed by numerous light bulbs that read the word “Manifesta”. This sculpture was at once a coat rack, a portal and a signpost that could be moved through the exhibition space. Many functions that reflected on the polysemy of contemporary artistic concepts.
