Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.
For this project American beatboxer Kenny Muhammad invited writers, curators and artists to submit short "prayers" about their hopes and desires for the future of art. These prayers became the basis for vocal percussion pieces with the artist interpreting the particular tone and feeling of each prayer in an empty theatre space. American filmmaker Adam Carrigan captured the performances.
