Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.
Manifesta 15 Barcelona took place in Barcelona and 11 surrounding cities ot its metropolitan region.

Opposite the Luxembourg Casino, German artist Tobias Rehberger transformed a prominent platform into a flower garden. The rigid planting structure strongly contrasted the ephemeral character of the arrangements. Seen from above, the flower beds conveyed the idea of a painting and, by placing a bench in the arrangement, it offered visitors a place to rest.
