Manifesta purposely strives to keep its distance from what are often seen as the dominant centres of artistic production, instead seeking fresh and fertile terrain for the mapping of a new cultural topography.

Özlem Altın works across collage, photography, painting and site-sensitive installations. Her work explores memory, perception, and embodied experience. She approaches images, bodies and materials as living and connected with each other, assembling found and self-made imagery. Bodies, gestures and fragments shift between figuration and abstraction, creating a body of work that remains open and associative. Recurring motifs such as masks, hybrid beings and organic forms evoke transformation and in-between states.
